'THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL SOCIETY'

In 1946 a London-based writer begins exchanging letters with residents on the island of Guernsey, which was German-occupied during WWII. Feeling compelled to visit the island, she starts to get a picture of what it was like during the occupation.

BOOKBUG EVENT - 11AM - FREE
For pre -5 and P1 Children.
Bookbug Sessions are free, fun and friendly events for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their families to enjoy together.
Each session includes songs, stories and rhymes. Taking place in a relaxed environment the Bookbug event is a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your little one.

WURDPLAY - 7:30PM - ENTRY BY DONATION
Local Writers’ Open Mic Night, Hosted by Jamie Livingstone.
Wurdplay is a writing group that meets in The Hope Kitchen, Oban. They run performance nights, make books, have D.I.Y stage design projects and put on open, free workshops with quality writers.
Come along hear poetry, rap and writing from promising performers.

THEATRE: ‘SEASONS OF MISTS AND MELLOW FRUITFULNESS’

The Tobermory Mainstreet Players bring us music and poetry.
Tobermory Main Street players consist of Graham Alexander, a latter-day troubadour with great acting and directing talents and Sarah Palmer, originally trained in classical ballet but now more involved in singing and acting. We enjoy combining our ideas & sensibilities to tell stories which stem from ordinary people's lives.

THURSDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER
BOOKBINDING AND GOLD TOOLING
7:30PM £5 – INCLUDING MATERIALS
Discover how a book is made and try your hand at gold tooling with book binder, Fiona Anderson.
Fiona will explain how books are constructed with different methods of sewing and demonstrate ways of covering and finishing a binding.
Participants will get to try their hand at gold tooling with gold leaf and gold foil and may bring a book in need of talc for advice and small running repairs.
Booking essential as there are a limited number of places.

FRIDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER
HOLLOW MOUNTAIN STRING BAND IN CONCERT.
7:30PM £12 ON DOOR, £10 ADVANCE.
Footstompin’ folk and Americana from Argyll’s finest.
The Hollow Mountain String Band bring you a lively blend of originals and covers, with a a mix of country, old time, honky tonk, Celtic traditional and western swing that bridges the gap between Scottish and Americana music, along with an electrifying live show that is sure to get the crowd up dancing- it's AmeriCeilidh!
